Enter your GPA to see your German grade.
In Germany, 1.0 is the best grade and 4.0 is the lowest pass.
German universities usually convert foreign grades with the modified Bavarian formula:
German grade = 1 + 3 × (Nmax − Nd) ÷ (Nmax − Nmin)
Worked example: a GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale with a pass mark of 2.0 gives 1 + 3 × (4.0 − 3.4) ÷ (4.0 − 2.0) = 1 + 3 × 0.6 ÷ 2.0 = 1.9.
We round the result to one decimal place and keep it between 1.0 and 4.0. Green means 2.5 or better, amber means 2.6 to 3.0, and red means worse than 3.0.
This is an estimate. Each university does its own grade conversion and may use different rules, for example cutting off instead of rounding. Your official grade is decided by the university or by uni-assist.
Most English-taught master’s programmes ask for one of these.
For the student visa you need €11,904 for one year in a German blocked account.
